All staff and students of TU Dortmund University are invited to join a digital lunchtime talk on 15 May about counseling and comlaint options for those affected by abuse of power.

All students, doctoral researchers and employees are cordially invited to the digital lunch talk “Forum on the Abuse of Power at TU Dortmund University – continued”. The event will take place online on Thursday, 15 May from 12:30 to 14:00.

# Aim and Content
We want to continue the dialogue that started at the first Abuse of Power Forum at our university in October 2024. This time, we would like to present counseling services and complaint options at TU Dortmund University and discuss the following questions with you:

  • Who can university members turn to if they experience abuse of power or observe it in their environment?
  • What options are there for those affected to get support and advice?
  • What measures can be taken against this misconduct?
  • What options are available at our university for submitting an official complaint against a person who abuses power?

In order to shed light on these possibilities, we have invited potential contact persons from various areas of the university to present their services and procedures for reported cases of abuse of power and to answer the participants' questions. In turn, the aim is also to find out more about the counseling needs of university members.

# Contact Persons and Moderators
The following contact persons will be present:

  • Maxie Bethge, Director of Corporate Center Human Resources and Complaints Office pursuant to Section 13 of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG)
  • Kaya Gödeke, Central Counseling Centre for Protection against Discrimination and Sexualized Violence (SchuDS)
  • Jens Maylandt, Deputy Chair of the Staff Council of the Academic and Artistic Employees
  • Jennifer Balik, Deputy Chair of the Staff Council of the Non-scientific Employees

The 90-minute lunch talk will be organized and moderated by members of the cross-divisional working group on the abuse of power, which already organized the forum on the abuse of power at TU Dortmund University in October 2024.

Dr. Sibel Vurgun, Head of Early Career Researchers Services | Graduate Center in the Office of Research Support Services, and Sigrun Rottmann, member of the Staff Council of the Academic and Artistic Employees, will take over the moderation.

# Target Group and Anonymity
Since all status groups at our university can be subject to abuse of power, our invitation is therefore aimed equally at students, doctoral researchers, academic staff and employees in administration and technology.

The event is organized in such a way that you have the opportunity to participate completely anonymously. During the talk, there will also be the option to submit questions and comments anonymously. In the interests of digital accessibility, the event will be subtitled via Zoom - also in English.

# Link and Contact
We will publish the Zoom link for the lunch talk on the SchuDS website in the early morning of the day of the event, including information on anonymous participation: https://stabsstelle-cfv.tu-dortmund.de/schuds/aktuelles/machtmissbrauch-an-der-hochschule-forum-machtmissbrauch-an-der-tu-dortmund-continued-51263/
